About

Welcome to a journal of an adventure of trying to live more sustainably in one of the world’s largest cities, London UK.

Most of us now know of the issues surrounding peak oil and climate change, but it can be confusing to know what to do about it. This is a time of discovery and experimentation, trying to change our way of life so it’s not so damaging, while still enjoying ourselves.

When I first learned of peak oil in 2003, quickly followed by climate change (thanks to my sister’s dissertation), I was immediately concerned about the gap in knowledge between generations. Our grandparents were raised in a time of growing their own food, our parents grew up making their own clothes, but our generation does none of these things – we are only capable of buying. If we are going to survive the coming times then we must reclaim the knowledge of growing and making things for ourselves.

And so started my adventure to learn different crafts, skills and how to grow food year-round. Some things have been easier and more enjoyable to pick up than others, but none-the-less we will continue to prepare ourselves for a world in which we have to look after ourselves.
